: : i have an 1960 Ernst Heinrich Roth violin, 4/4 with the original case and bow! how much would it be worht selling for?

Depends on condition, what model it is, etc. Roths are pretty good violins. Also, if you sell to a dealer he'll give you a wholesale price. If you sell on ebay you can expect to get less than that, unless you are lucky and get bidders going. Probably from a low of $350-400 on up into the thousands if it's a nice one with no damage. The bow may also be valuable, but it sweetens the violin deal if you sell them together.

According to Michael Darnton, who knows his stuff, the 'fake' date on the label, where is says "copy of" indicates the quality of the instrument. For a Strad copy if it says 1735, thats a higher grade of instrument than one that says 1700.

A good violin shop or luthier (violin maker) could give you an idea of the value.
