Maria Guarnieri was born 1891 in Italy, probably in/near Villarosa, Enna, Sicilia. She married Domenico Gelfo in Italy about 1908 and their eldest son, Charles, was born in Italy on May 29, 1911. In 1913 she emigrated to the US, and went to Westmoreland County (South Greensburg) PA to join her husband, who had emigrated earlier. The couple had 5 more children: Josephine, Michelena, James, Angelo, and Michael. In the mid to late 1920's the family moved to Chicago. Domenico died in Chicago in 1931. Maria Guarnieri Gelfo died in Chicago about 1951.
