I own a violin in which is inscribed "Andreas Guarnerius Cremonae sub titulo Santae Teresiae 1677."
I know that the violin was given to my mother when she was 6 years old, which puts its latest possible purchase date in 1928. I have no idea whether it is an original or a replica. However, a music professor told me that it may be valuable because the back is one piece and not two and the whole of the instrument appears original due to its coloration. He suggested that I have it appraised along with its bow and case.
Can anyone please advise me as to the cost for appraisal and how I should go about having this done.
Thank you.
